Events

The Netherlands American Community Trust believes that music and the arts are a necessary factor in educating young people. In addition to the many educational outreach programs and competitions, the Trust also produces two concert events in the performing arts each year. These concerts provide talented young musicians from economically less advantaged communities in the Netherlands and the United States, with an opportunity to perform at two of the most prestigious stages in the world: Carnegie Hall in New York and the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam.

Young musicians from the Netherlands and the United States compete, and the winners are selected to perform on both stages. In addition, they participate in community outreach and exchange programs in the Netherlands and the United States. The concerts provide a platform for young musicians to showcase their talents, and “A CHANCE TO BE HEARD” by their peers and members of the community.

These Concerts are not only a great motivator for the young musicians showcased, but also for the young people from their communities in the audience, and members of the general public. Not only does this promote music education, it also leads to integration of those from different economic classes and cultural backgrounds. As a result, the Netherlands American Community Trust extends invitations to young people from outreach programs in the community to become members of the audience.
